Dallas Cup Loses a Dear Friend

Bob Winston, a former Dallas Cup Board President and long time volunteer, passed away October 30th. Winston had been involved with the tournament since 1981.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Bob Winston, one of the most beloved members of the Dallas Cup family, passed away this past Sunday. Bob started volunteering for the Dallas Cup in 1981, and for over three decades, he played an instrumental role in the development and growth of the tournament.  His team of field-operations volunteers, nicknamed “Winston’s Warriors,” through their hard-work, resourcefulness, and can-do attitude, were vitally important during Dallas Cup’s early years, and were a key contributor to the tournament’s rise to prominence in the 80’s and 90’s.  From 1994 to 2000, Bob served on the Dallas Cup Board of Directors, and he was the Board President in 1996 and 1997. The Dallas Cup’s “Volunteer of the Year” award is aptly named in his honor. He will be greatly missed.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Bob Winston on Thursday the 10th of November from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. It will take place at Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas.
