For Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVIII, adidas will select an All-Star team made up of U.S. based players from teams participating in the U16 age bracket. The 18-player Dallas Cup All-Star team will travel to Spain and Portugal this summer, where they will receive elite level training with Real Madrid Foundation coaches at the club’s state of the art facility in Madrid, as well as with S.L. Benfica Academy coaches in Lisbon. Organized by generation adidas international, the all-expenses paid trip will also include friendly matches, stadium and city tours, and the opportunity to attend a professional match.
In 2015, adidas selected a Dallas Cup U16 All-Star team that represented the United States in UEFA’s Young Champions 5v5 tournament in Berlin, Germany during the Champion’s League Finals. The team finished in second place, losing in the final to Brazil. U.S. player Paxton Pomykal of FC Dallas was selected as the tournament MVP. On March 11 of this year, Pomykal, 17, became the youngest player in FC Dallas history to ever start an MLS game for the franchise.
