Tim Martins Under 17 Ruckus team were assured of an invitation by just reaching the Championship match in this years North America Memorial Day Cup (NAMDC) as per the Dallas Cup qualifying rules. The young men were not satisfied to just be in the final, as they continued their excellent play by winning the match 3-1 and will compete in Group A-Under 19 at the 2004 Dallas Cup.
Local Dallas teams rounded out the qualifying with Dallas Inter Blue taking the Championship in the U16 and U15 divisions, Andromeda winning the U13 final and DFW Tejanos winning the U11 division. These teams secured invitations to participate in the U17, U16, U14 and U12 Dallas Cup divisions in Dallas Cup XXV which will be played April 4-11, 2004.
The partnership between the Dallas Cup and the NDCCSA Classic League, host of the North America Memorial Day Cup, continues to grow. The NAMDC is the only tournament in the USA that is designated as a qualifier for the Dallas Cup. This years tournament drew teams from Northern California, Southern California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Texas and North Texas with the hope of playing well enough to qualify for the 2004 Dallas Cup. The number of teams from outside the Dallas area was up more than 60% and that is directly attributed to the NAMDC being a qualifying tournament for the Dallas Cup stated Tournament Director Gary Robinson. We anticipate having even more out of town teams next year based on early inquiries said Robinson.
