Newcastle United FC, Sport Lisboa e Benfica and the US Under 17 Mens National Team will be a big part of the Super Group at Dallas Cup XXIV.
Dallas Cup Executive Director Gordon Jago and Tournament Manager Randy Jones are two very happy people these days. With Dallas Cup XXIV still more than seven months away, they have already received firm commitments from Newcastle United FC, England; Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Portugal and the US Under 17 Mens National Team. These teams and others to be named in the near future will make up the Super Group-Under 19 Division for the April 13-20, 2003 tournament. Jago and Jones are talking daily with top clubs from Brazil,Costa Rica, Japan, Bolivia, Mexico and other countries to round out the group.
The Super Group is planned to be twelve teams with 3 divisions of 4 teams. After the preliminary round, the three division winners and one wild card team will advance to the semi-finals which will be played on Friday night of the tournament week followed by the championship match on Sunday night. New for the Super Group are plans for a consolation match for third and forth place to be played Saturday night.
