Dallas Cup Executive Director Gordon Jago takes great pleasure in announcing that Aston Villa will make their first trip to Dallas to compete in the Super Group next March. Tournament dates are March 20-27, 2005. Villas Under 17 squad won the Academy League Championship this past May and thus an invitation to participate in Dallas Cup XXVI. Last year was one of Villas most successful seasons for the youth teams. In addition to the U17 side winning the league championship the reserve team won their league and the under 18 side reached the FA Youth Cup final for the second time in 3 years. Six players from the Under 17 side have already had time with the reserve team at the age of 16 & 17. Having won the Under 17 English title last season, we are looking forward to competing with the best from other countries both in Europe and the Americas states Bryan Jones, Academy Manager for Villa. Not one of our players has ever played competitive football in America; they are looking forward to the experience immensely continues Jones.
Jago and Tournament Manager Randy Jones will be making further announcements on additional Super Group teams in the future. We are now holding discussions with top club teams from Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Costa Rica, Germany, Mexico, Uruguay, China, The Netherlands and Colombia to complete the 12 team Super Group says Jones. Everyone is encouraged to visit the new Dallas Cup website (www.dallascup.com) frequently for the latest news.
