DALLAS, Texas (Wednesday, Sep. 30) – Dallas Cup, the oldest and most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in the United States, has opened the application window for the 2021 edition of the tournament. For the first time since 1996, the tournament will feature both boys and girls brackets.
Due to the novel COVID-19 virus pandemic, the 2020 Dallas Cup was cancelled this past April for the first time in the tournament’s 40 year history. With ever-evolving safety protocols in place from various health authorities, the 2021 Dallas Cup will look to build upon the success of the 2019 edition of the tournament. The 2019 Dallas Cup concluded with teams from four countries winning “Boot and Ball” championship trophies, headlined by Tigres of Liga MX defeating La Liga’s academy champions Villarreal in the Super Group Final, broadcast nationally on TUDN.
New to the 2021 Dallas Cup is the return of a girls component to the tournament. Dallas Cup Girls will run concurrently with the boys tournament and will feature elite girls teams from across the nation in the 16U-19U age groups. Dallas Cup formerly included a girls bracket from 1987 to 1996 before shifting to solely boys.
